People don't know Enough

After making a survey for a class project i realized a survey was not enough action. All the survey did was point out the the majority of people have little to no knowledge about animal testing. Animal testing started many years ago all the way back to the Roman Empire. Does that mean that animal testing is affective? Not necessarily, finding a way to ensure a product will be safe for the public is not as easy as you think. We are all different and companies want to be sure that the products they sell are safe, liability is the issue. Other methods of ensuring the reliability are becoming more and more available. Today we need update our unreliable and outdated test procedures. In some cases people that use a lot of make-up are supporting the torture of animals. The Draize test where the chemical is rubbed throughly into the animals eyes, and into their skin causes extreme discomfort, intense burning sensations, bleeding from the eyes or the spot where the skin has been fully burnt off. Mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs, and non-human primates are all used for this kind of cruel test. The LD-50% is a test banned by the US and parts or Europe for its wasteful study. Lethal Dose 50% means 50 percent of animals in the study group are killed. We have the ability to understand, learn, and discover and it is time to take care of the animals we share our planet with. Other methods of testing are available right now, its getting big companies to switch. Here is a link to a search engine that allows you to look up companies that use animal testing. http://www.navs.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ain_pt_whois
Also, some research centers use the Three R's, reduce, refine, replace. Reduce the number of animals used while increasing productivity. Refine the technology and make suffering and pain as minimal as possible, and find replacements to animals like in vitro testing, (Test tube) or computer modeling. There is no excuse to keep this burden going on anywhere, with technology advances we now have other options that need to be explored by all of our favorite product companies. They need to know we don't agree with animal testing and we want companies that don't test on animals.
